Professor Max Shen Elected as International Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
The HKU Excellence Awards Presentation Ceremony For 2025 featured a special tribute to Professor Max Shen, celebrating his election as an International Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Professor Max Shen, Dean of the Graduate School, has been elected as an International Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the fields of artificial intelligence and supply chain optimisation.
An internationally renowned scholar, Professor Shen has built an exceptional career at the intersection of research and practical application. His research interests span logistics and supply chain management, data-driven decision making, and system optimisation, and he has conducted research projects in business, energy systems, transportation systems, smart cities, healthcare management, and environmental protection. His work has not only advanced these fields but also cultivated new generations of innovators, with former students now holding leadership positions at top universities and technology firms worldwide.
This honour from the CAE adds to Professor Shen’s distinguished collection of accolades, including fellowships with the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences and the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering. He is also recognised as a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, and has served as past President of the Production and Operations Management Society. These recognitions affirm his status as an internationally recognised leader in engineering and applied sciences.
