A*STAR Research Attachment Opportunities in Singapore for HKU Researchers
Looking to partner with Singapore on improving research and enhancing talent mobility? A*STAR offers research attachment opportunities for overseas-based postgraduate students to work with Singapore's research ecosystem through the A*STAR Research Attachment Programme (ARAP) and Singapore Research Attachment Programme (SRAP).
A*STAR is Singapore's leading public sector R&D agency, driving research that creates scientific, economic and societal impact, and working with local, international partners to advance innovation.
Through these programmes, students can undertake 1 to 2 years if research attacahment in Singapore, gain hands-on experience, while forging connections with researchers and institutions across A*STAR and Singapore's R&D ecosystem.

The 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition
The 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Doctoral and Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is now open to talented doctoral and postdoctoral individuals worldwide. This prestigious event highlights cutting-edge technology and industry needs, featuring categories such as Innovation Competition, Entrepreneurship Competition, and Challenge-Solving. It covers a wide range of key industry sectors, including: Next-Generation Information Technology & AI, Semiconductors & Integrated Circuits, High-End Equipment Manufacturing & Robotics, New Energy, Energy Saving & Environmental Protection, New Materials & Petrochemicals, Biomedicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine & Holistic Health, Modern Agriculture & Food, Marine Research & Application, and Modern Services & Other Industry Sectors.
Submission deadlines:
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competitions: July 15, 2026
- Challenge-Solving Competition: August 31, 2026
This year, the Hong Kong division introduces a "Fast Track" option, allowing projects successfully selected within Hong Kong to directly advance to the national finals, bypassing the semi-final stage. SEED Programme
SEED is an early-stage startup support programme designed specifically for innovative or startup projects in any discipline or industrial sector. It is a joint co-ideation programme in partnership with HKSTP for students and graduates. Awardees will be provided with training and coaching opportunities, as well as be supported for participating in various startup competitions.
This Programme runs twice a year. The next cut-off date will be August 30, 2026.

2026 Northern Kun Young Scientist Award
To stimulate the innovation vitality of young scientists, Befar Group and the World Federation of Young Scientists (WAYS) jointly set up the “Northern Kun Young Scientist Award”.
The award focuses on high-end chemical industry, new materials, new energy, biomedicine, high-end equipment manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and is committed to cultivating young scientists with subversive innovation ability and constructing an ecological system of science and technology empowering industrial development.
To facilitate better understand the application process and key points of evaluation, representatives of the “Northern Kun Young Scientist Award” have been invited to host a seminar at the Tam Wing Fan Innovation Wing Two on 2 July, 2026, specifically for HKU researchers. HKU ITC STEM Internship Scheme
The Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) has set up the STEM Internship Scheme (“Scheme”) to encourage STEM students to gain innovation and technology (I&T)-related work experience during their studies and to foster their interest in pursuing a career in I&T after graduation.
Please note that Research postgraduate students are only allowed to participate in the Scheme if they have formally applied for Leave of Absence. Students who have submitted the thesis must confirm with their Faculty if they are permitted to take an internship.
