Celebrating Impactful Engagement at the HKU Postgraduate Student Ambassadors Inauguration cum Appreciation Ceremony

2025/26 HKU Postgraduate Student Ambassadors Inauguration cum Appreciation Ceremony

2025/26 wellness partnering units and postgraduate student ambassadors celebrating at the HKU Postgraduate Student Ambassadors Inauguration cum Appreciation Ceremony.

Over 80 Wellness and Publicity Ambassadors gathered to celebrate at the HKU Postgraduate Student Ambassadors Inauguration cum Appreciation Ceremony on October 23, 2025, with an atmosphere filled with energy and a strong sense of community spirit. The event honoured our student ambassadors for their dedicated support in the past academic year and officially launched the new chapter of the 2025/26 Ambassadors Programme. Our vibrant team of student ambassadors includes 80 Wellness Ambassadors and 50 Publicity Ambassadors from across disciplines. Professor Cecilia Cheng, Associate Dean (Personal Development) of the Graduate School, stressed the importance of peer support in providing strength and motivation. She also expressed her gratitude to all student ambassadors for their enthusiasm and commitment.

Mr Henry Chan, Acting Senior Manager - Training and Partnerships of Mind HK, shared insights on how peer support can help break down mental health stigma. His sharing highlighted that peer support offers strength and that everyone has the power to make a positive difference. In addition to Mind HK, representatives from our wellness partnering units—including Professor Rainbow Ho, Director of the Centre on Behavioral Health, Dr Iris Lam, Director of Counselling and Person Enrichment at CEDARS, and Dr Wendy So, Senior Research Manager of the HKJC Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention—shared previews of upcoming training sessions tailored for Wellness Ambassadors. A series of engaging monthly wellness activities is also scheduled for the coming year. Mr Glen Joe, Head of the Active Health Clinic at the Centre for Sports and Exercise, Ms Anthea Yung, Founder and CEO of Rise Wise, along with her therapy dog Mia, and Ms Helen Kwok, Founder of Metta Wellness, also offered participants a glimpse of their sessions. The heart-warming greeting with the therapy dog and the calming singing bowl demonstration enriched the atmosphere and served as perfect reminders of this year’s RPg Wellness Initiative theme, “In the Moment”. We invite students to pause, reflect, and connect for holistic well-being.

Many of our Wellness Ambassadors actively participated in our wellness activities and promoted well-being over the past year. Professor Max Shen, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Dean of the Graduate School, presented certificates and our customised Graduate School wellness teddy bears to recipients of the Active Engagement Award 2024/25, recognising their exceptional contributions. With the official appointment of the 2025/26 Wellness Ambassadors and Publicity Ambassadors from diverse departments, the ceremony came to a joyful close.
