HKU Foundation First Year Excellent PhD Award 2025/26

The HKU Foundation First Year Excellent PhD Award 2025/26 is now open for application. Up to 15 awards, in the form of a certificate and a cash prize of HK$5,000, will be made each year to PhD students who have excellent performance during the probationary period.

All PhD students whose probationary period has been confirmed in 2025 can apply. Interested students should submit an application to their Faculty Office by February 28, 2026. Click here for application details.

HKU Foundation Publication Award for Research Postgraduate Students 2026

The HKU Foundation Publication Award for Research Postgraduate Students 2026 is open for application. With the generous donation from the HKU Foundation, the Publication Award is established to give due recognition to RPg students who have published a journal article of exceptional quality.

Up to 20 awards, in the form of a cash prize of HK$5,000, can be made each year to RPg students who have published a journal article of exceptional quality in a research area related to their thesis study.

HKLSS internship program

Apply for the Hong Kong Life Sciences Society (HKLSS) Life Sciences Summer Internship Program 2026 and Mentorship Scheme 2026/27 by 12 December 2025.

HKLSS is organising the Life Sciences Summer Internship Program and Mentorship Scheme to offer students enhanced perspectives within the life sciences industry. 

The Life Sciences Summer Internship Program 2026 provides a six-week real-life work experience from June to August 2026 to offer a unique life sciences/biotech internship opportunity to empower emerging biotech talent. The Mentorship Scheme 2026/27 will commence in March 2026 and run for 12 months. The Scheme is designed to cultivate young students in the life sciences, biomedical sciences, and biotechnology disciplines, equipping them with workplace knowledge, soft skills, and the ability to network and build meaningful connections.

Qualitative Research Methods Workshop: Research Design and Data Collection – Professor Jisun Jung

The Graduate School has invited Professor Jisun Jung from the Faculty of Education to deliver a workshop on qualitative research methods on December 12, 2025 at 2:00-4:50pm.

This workshop is provided for research postgraduate students who expect to learn more about advanced knowledge and skills in qualitative research design and data collection. In this workshop, students will be asked to consider which qualitative research design and data collection techniques are appropriate for which research questions. Students will be asked to make concrete data collection plans, including interviews and observations. They will also be required to develop interview protocols and observation notes.
