Exploring Diverse Career Paths Beyond Academia with AsiaGlobal Fellows

The Panel Discussion with AsiaGlobal Fellows 2025 — one of the Graduate School’s annual highlights committed to advancing research postgraduates’ career trajectories—was held on October 10, 2025. The Panel featured four Fellows, who are prominent professionals in their respective fields: Ms Sunika Joshi, Lighthouse Neural, Nepal; Mr Brodie McCulloch, Spacecubed, Australia; Ms Christina Monroe, East-West Center, USA; and Dr Bruce Pang, Jones Lang LaSalle, Hong Kong.
With their distinct backgrounds, cultures, and expertise, the four Fellows candidly unfolded their journeys of personal growth, values, and thoughts. They further highlighted the decisive role of strategic networking and the necessity of embracing changes in career growth and advancement. Specifically, the Fellows advised research postgraduates to do the following:
Ms Sunika Josh:
Manage your weaknesses but invest in your strengths. The professional world is a microcosm of society, complex, non-linear, and deeply human.
Mr Brodie McCulloch:
The first idea is not necessarily the best idea. Changes are deemed necessary.
Ms Christina Monroe:
It is crucial to establish bridges among academic, community, and government sectors. Transferable skills and leadership skills are vital in establishing those bridges.
Dr Bruce Pang:
A wide range of skills, such as leadership and storytelling, are indispensable to harness the multi-disciplinary edge in today’s world.
Both the Graduate School and the research students were very appreciative of the precious insights from the four Fellows and the valuable support of the Asia Global Institute.
