HKU's PhD & MPhil Information Day 2025 Inspires Future Researchers

info day participants

The PhD & MPhil Information Day 2025 for Research Postgraduate studies was held at HKU on October 15, 2025. More than 2,000 prospective applicants joined us in person on the Centennial Campus, or online, engaging in an afternoon filled with insightful and practical information.

The event kicked off with Professor X. David Li, Associate Dean of the Graduate School, introducing HKU’s prestigious research postgraduate programmes to the attendees. Ms Bella Y. Liu, a PhD student from the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, was invited to present some common questions from applicants to Professor Li.

Participants then divided into various concurrent sessions, where more detailed information on Faculty-based research areas and prospects was covered. Attendees heard first hand from HKU’s researchers, gaining valuable insights into research, useful guidance on admission matters, and down-to-earth sharing from current PhD students on their research journeys. Participants actively engaged in meaningful discussions with faculty members, guests, and student ambassadors.

The event is an important part of showcasing HKU’s excellence and attracting future talents. The Graduate School is very grateful for the support given by our professors, guests, and student ambassadors across faculties and disciplines at the Info Day. We hope participants gained valuable insights, were inspired by the wealth of talent on our campus.
