Fostering Intellectual Connections at the Annual HKU Research Postgraduate Symposium

An inspiring afternoon celebrating the research excellence of our students and graduates at the HKU Research Postgraduate Symposium cum Award Presentation Ceremony 2026.
In the afternoon of March 9, 2026, our campus buzzed with enthusiasm and intellectual energy during the HKU Research Postgraduate Symposium cum Award Presentation Ceremony. This vibrant annual event provides a platform for the cross-fertilisation of ideas and the establishment of meaningful connections across disciplines.
The event started with motivating insights from two Li Ka Shing Prize winners, who shared their success stories and highlighted how their research studies contributed to their personal and professional growth. Around 170 research students showcased their innovative research projects through poster presentations. These stimulating presentations by Year 2 HKU Presidential PhD Scholars and recipients of the HKU Foundation Publication Award for Research Postgraduate Students and the Research Postgraduate Student Innovation Award demonstrated the talent and potential of our young researchers. In recognition of students’ efforts, the top two presenters from each group were selected for the Best Poster Presentation Award and the Poster Presentation Merit Award.
The keynote lecture delivered by Professor Cui Huang, Department of Prosthodontics, School & Hospital of Stomatology, Wuhan University, was the highlight of the symposium. Attendees also enjoyed the Meet and Greet session with Professor Huang, where they had the opportunity to seek advice on research and career development.
The event concluded with the award presentation session, recognising the achievements of our outstanding students and graduates. Their passion for discovery and perseverance are important driving forces behind their success.
This gathering created a lively academic atmosphere, encouraging students to explore new ideas and build collaborations that drive progress and innovation. Let’s keep working together to build a dynamic, forward-looking research community at HKU!
