Two HKU Teams Win Champion and Excellence Awards at the ‘Innovation · Zero-Missing Part Challenge’
Two student teams from the Department of Data and Systems Engineering, supervised by Dr H.H. Cheung, clinched the Champion and Excellence Awards at the ‘Innovation · Zero-Missing Part Challenge (智造·零缼挑戰 2025)’ held on June 6, 2025. Organised by international toy manufacturer Mattel, the competition saw 15 university teams from the Greater Bay Area compete to design innovative solutions to eliminate missing parts in Mattel Brick Shop products during manufacturing and packaging. The challenge required participating teams to propose conceptual designs ready for developing and enhancing the production operations with advanced technologies, including automation, industrial engineering, AI, and robotics. The two winning teams are as follows:
