New Graduate School Member

Professor Edmund Lam

The Graduate School is pleased to announce that Professor Edmund Y.M. Lam has been appointed as Associate Dean (Innovation & Career Development) of the Graduate School with effect from December 15, 2023, joining the Dean, the Senior Associate Dean and other Associate Deans in leading the work of the Graduate School.

Professor Lam is a Professor and the Director of the Computer Engineering programme in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and the founding director of the Imaging Systems Laboratory at the University of Hong Kong. He has broad research interests around the theme of computational optics and imaging, from the design of efficient imaging algorithms to the processing of the massive image data for various applications.  

Professor Lam has received a number of recognitions for his research and teaching achievements. He has been presented the HKU Outstanding Researcher Award and the IBM Faculty Award.  He is also a Fellow of Optica (formerly OSA), the Society of Photo-optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE), as well as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).  He was given an engineering Best Teacher Award, and the university-wide Outstanding Teaching Award (team award).
