Dissertation Year Fellowship
The Dissertation Year Fellowship is a prestigious programme to enable outstanding final-year PhD students to pursue an additional year of training at the University to bring their doctoral research to a higher level before graduation. The fellowship allows more time for students to work on their research and enhance their publications, supporting them to secure better jobs after graduation. Each fellowship holder will receive a Postgraduate Scholarship equivalent to the HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship (viz. HK$28,100 per month for 2024/25) for up to 12 months; conference support of up to HK$13,500 per year; and a waiver of the continuation fee during the fellowship period. HKU Foundation Publication Award
The HKU Foundation Publication Award for Research Postgraduate Students 2025 is open for application. With the generous donation from the HKU Foundation, the Publication Award is established to give due recognition to RPg students who have published a journal article of exceptional quality. Up to 20 awards, in the form of a cash prize of HK$5,000, can be made each year to RPg students who have published a journal article of exceptional quality in a research area related to their thesis study. HKU Foundation First Year Excellent PhD Award 2024/25
The HKU Foundation First Year Excellent PhD Award 2024/25 is now open for application. Up to 15 awards, in the form of a certificate and a cash prize of HK$5,000, can be made each year to PhD students who have excellent performance during the probationary period. All PhD students whose probationary period has been confirmed in 2024 can apply. Interested students should submit an application to the Faculty Office by February 28, 2025. HKU-Cambridge Hughes Hall Scholarship
Application for HKU-Cambridge Hughes Hall Scholarships is now open. HKU students and alumni who wish to pursue a one-year, full-time master’s degree at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge, may apply before noon, March 30, 2025. HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund—Reaching Out Award
To attract outstanding local students and meritorious non-local students to pursue higher education opportunities in Hong Kong, the HKSAR Government established in 2008 the HKSAR Government Scholarship Fund. Under this fund, the Reaching Out Award, granted on a competitive basis, aims to support students who need to travel out of Hong Kong to participate in various study activities.
