New Graduate School Member

Prof Li Xiang

The Graduate School is pleased to announce that Professor X. David Li has been appointed as Associate Dean (Scholarships & China Affairs) of the Graduate School with effect from June 9, 2025, joining the Dean, the Senior Associate Dean and other Associate Deans in leading the work of the Graduate School.

Professor Li is our own PhD graduate, and is currently a Professor in the Department of Chemistry.  His research, at the interface of chemistry and biology, aims at deciphering the epigenetic landscape of chromatin modifications using chemical approaches. His most important contribution to the field of epigenetics is the development of a variety of new and robust chemical tools and methodology for comprehensive identification of proteins that are responsible for ‘writing’, ‘erasing’, or ‘translating’ epigenetic ‘codes’, which helped to unravel biological roles played by specific chromatin modification and to elucidate complex regulatory mechanisms in normal physiology and disease pathogenesis.  He has been recognized by multiple prizes and awards, including Mr and Mrs Sun Chan Memorial Award in Organic Chemistry, CAPA Distinguished Faculty Award, Tetrahedron Young Investigator Award (Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry), NSFC Distinguished Young Scholars Award, and Early Career Award from the Hong Kong Research Grant Council.

Our warmest welcome is extended to Professor Li.
