Hong Kong InnoX Academy is an innovative non-profit educational institution jointly built by government, industry and research institutions and established by the Hong Kong X Foundation under Sequoia China.

InnoX Camp – a project under the HK InnoX Academy – holds winter and summer camps each year. It aims to cultivate students’ innovative scientific thinking and entrepreneurial qualities through design thinking and project-based teaching, help students experience the whole cycle of establishing enterprises from scratch, use brainstorming to break through barriers and form ideas, and help students quickly enter the entrepreneurial track.

In the InnoX Summer 2022 Camp, our PhD students Wanying Wang and Tian Zeng from the Department of Chemistry together with three teammates from other HK universities won the Best Product Design Award under the team name NITROGEN CYCLE. The team designed a water e-flow system to improve planting efficiency through nitrogen recycling. The system can be connected to a household balcony or farm or a commercial rooftop garden, achieving planting wastewater collection and fertiliser conversion. The design can be connected to an automatic irrigation system that can realise automatic irrigation and fertilisation. This can eventually enable water recycling and nitrogen usage high efficiency.
