A Warm Welcome
Welcome aboard at HKU!
As you embark on this new chapter of your life at HKU, I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome to you to join our vibrant research community.
At HKU, research is at the heart of everything we do. We strive to nurture students and enable them to conduct innovative, high-impact, and cutting-edge research that shapes the world. As an HKU postgraduate student, your time here will be both challenging and rewarding. You will have access to world-class teaching and research resources, learn the latest knowledge and skills, engage in groundbreaking research, and collaborate with leading scholars from around the globe.
In this edition, we have gathered a wealth of information on various orientation activities and resources that the University offers to facilitate your adjustment and learning at HKU. The Graduate School has also developed various awards, fellowships, and scholarship schemes, as well as wellbeing and soft skills workshops, to provide you with the opportunities and support needed to conduct innovative research. I encourage you to seize the opportunity to make new friends and familiarise yourself with the array of learning resources, opportunities, and support available to you.
Life as a postgraduate student is more than just studying for a degree. It’s about getting involved in research, societies, conferences, thought-provoking discussions, long-lasting friendships, and much more. Whatever your area of study and wherever your passion lies, I encourage you to take the time to interact with faculty and fellow students from the larger community both within and outside the University. I hope you enjoy the stimulating and engaging experience at HKU, and I look forward to hearing new perspectives, fresh ideas, and innovative thinking from you.
Please stay engaged and connected. I wish you the best of luck in your graduate studies.
