Welcome to HKU! We are thrilled to have you join us this Summer as we begin the journey of research and enlightenment. In addition to working with an eminent professor on a research project, we have prepared a series of academic seminars, workshops and extra-curricular activities throughout the 10-week programme.

All participants are expected to start working with their mentor(s) at the University of Hong Kong in person from Week 3 to Week 10 (i.e. June 17, 2024 to August 9, 2024), unless prior approval has been obtained from the Graduate School to arrive later than June 17, 2024 due to exceptional circumstances.
Participants should report to their mentor(s) in person on or before June 17, 2024. Please contact your mentor(s) as soon as possible (no later than one week before your arrival) and ask for the reporting time and office/laboratory address. For participants who have been approved to attend the programme in person later than June 17, 2024, please report to your mentor(s) once you arrive in Hong Kong.

Plan A: Jockey Club Student Village IV (Wong Chuk Hang)
The Jockey Club Student Village IV (4 Police School Road, Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong) is in Wong Chuk Hang. All rooms are single-occupancy. Residential floors are arranged on a single gender basis. Communal bathrooms and toilets, network point, WIFI, hot and cold water will be available. Each resident will be provided with a bed, a pillow, 1 bedsheet, 1 blanket, a desk, a chair and a wardrobe. Air conditioning and linen will be provided but you have to prepare your own towels, tissue rolls and toiletries for environmentally friendly and personal hygiene reasons.
You will receive your designated college, room number and digital room password prior to your arrival.
Upon arrival, please visit the General Office of Student Village IV to check-in. Please note that check-in service is only available within office hours and no residences can stay in the college without completing the check-in process. You may find the address and office hours below:

Plan B: Jockey Club Student Village III (Kennedy Town) until August 3, 2024; and Student Village IV (Wong Chuk Hang) in the last week of the programme
The Jockey Club Student Village III (9 Lung Wah Street, Hong Kong) is in Kennedy Town. Residents may be allocated a single room or a double-room (double-occupancy). All rooms are randomly assigned by the University Residential College based on room vacancy. Please stay at your assigned room and no room change/ swapping is allowed.
Residential floors are arranged on a single gender basis. Communal bathrooms and toilets, network point, WIFI, hot and cold water will be available. Each person will be provided with a bed, a pillow, a bedsheet, a blanket, a desk, a chair and a wardrobe. Air conditioning and linen will be provided but you have to prepare your towels and toiletries for personal hygiene reason.

Office hours: Monday – Friday: 9am – 12:30pm; 2pm – 5:30pm (Saturday, Sunday, University and Public Holiday: Closed)You will know the exact college, floor and room that you will be staying at when you collect your room key and smart card at the Graduate School office. Please be reminded to always bring your room key and smart card with you. If you require door unlocking service from the College Security Team, you will need to pay HK$20 service charge in cash on the spot.
The earliest time you can access to your room is at 3:00pm on your arrival date and the check-out time is by 10:00am on your departure date.
Residents are advised to read through the rules for summer residences before checking in and observe the Rules during your stay at the Residential College.
Arrangements for moving from Village III to Village IV on August 3, 2024 will be announced in due course.
- Scholarship and Financial Support

Scholarship for participants
A scholarship of HK$10,000 will be awarded to each participant of the Programme upon successful completion of the Programme.
Financial support
Financial support of airfare up to HK$5,000, and university accommodation up to HK$5,000 will be provided on a reimbursement basis.
Please note that the Graduate School will only sponsor a round-trip transportation ticket, capped at HK$5,000 for our participants to travel to Hong Kong from the country/city where the participant is residing in. We only allow participants to take multiple rides to Hong Kong if participants can prove the necessity of travelling to multiple cities/ points before arriving Hong Kong, for example, travelling from the country that your University is located at to your hometown for entry permit application, or, one single travelling route to Hong Kong with multiple transfer rides. Multiple rides due to personal reasons are not supported and we hold the authorization to decide whether the participant’s travelling expenses are eligible for reimbursement.
The scholarship and financial support will be provided to each participant upon successful completion of the Programme, and that the performance of the participants must be satisfactory.
