To assist research postgraduate students to better adapt to Hong Kong, Cantonese courses targeting at non-Cantonese-speaking Chinese students and English-speaking students are offered each academic year.
Semester 2, 2025/26
Enrolment Information
28 places are available in each course and application is considered on a first-come, first-served basis. A deposit of HK$500, which will be returned to unsuccessful applicants and successful applicants who attended at least 80% of classes, is required for application.
Application Procedures
Interested students should complete the online form “Application for Cantonese Courses for PhD/MPhil Students” and upload the supervisor's endorsement and the deposit payment proof by January 15, 2026 (5:00 p.m.). Please click here for the deposit payment instructions.
Students will be notified of the application result via email. In case of subsequent withdrawal, students should inform the Graduate School at least 5 days prior course commencement. Reimbursement of deposit will not be arranged for late notification.
