(Students are required to submit a Data Management Plan (DMP) if data is to be collected or generated as part of the research, and present the scheme of research at the Supervisory Committee meeting arranged by the DRPC or the supervisor. End of 24th month Submit the 2nd annual progress monitoring report to the DRPC*
At least 3 months before the expected date of thesis submission Submit a written notice of intention to submit a thesis to the Chairperson of the DRPC
End of 36th month

Completion of all coursework requirements. Thesis should be submitted by this date.  

 

End of candidature
(Students are required to submit the dataset of their research, where applicable, when they submit theses for examination. Please refer to the website of the University Libraries for details of submission of dataset.)

@ 3-year PhD students are required to complete the two research conduct modules offered by the Graduate School before the end of the probationary period. Students who have completed equivalent training in previous research degree programmes may apply for course exemption. In addition, some Faculties / Schools / Departments may require 3-year PhD students to complete courses as part of the degree requirement. Please consult the Faculty / School / Departmental Office for details. 

* The supervisor, in consultation with members of the Supervisory Committee, shall provide comments on the report for student’s feedback.  The DRPC will then consider and submit the report with its recommendations to the Faculty Higher Degrees Committee (FHDC).

# It is advisable that students submit their probationary report one month before the end of the probationary period to allow more time for the confirmation process.

Students who register after the online enrolment periods may follow the add/drop procedures to do course enrolment.

* The DRPC shall be required to provide comments on the supervision and/or progress on the reports.  After the DRPC has considered both supervision and candidate’s reports, an email will be sent to the supervisor and the candidate alerting them to view the reports with the comments of the DRPC.  The DRPC will also submit the supervision report and the candidate’s report with its comments to the Faculty Higher Degrees Committee (FHDC).
