Why DYF?
The Dissertation Year Fellowship is a prestigious programme to enable outstanding final year PhD students to pursue an additional year of training at the University to bring his/her doctoral research to a higher level before graduation. The fellowship allows more time for the students to work on his/her research and improve publication, and help students to find better job after graduation.
What you can get?
Each fellowship holder will receive (a) a Postgraduate Scholarships (PGS) equivalent to the HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship (viz. $28,100 per month for 2024/25) for up to 12 months; (b) conference support for up to $13,500 per year; and (c) a waiver of the continuation fee during the fellowship period.
How to apply?
Outstanding full-time PhD students who have good publication track record and have submitted a thesis for examination may be nominated by his/her primary supervisor to be considered for the fellowship.
Nominations are accepted all year round. Supervisors who are interested to nominate his/her students for this Fellowship should discuss the work plan with the students during the final year. The student may continue to work on his/her thesis topic, or in an extended or new project in the related field.
