To provide discipline-specific knowledge for research work in their distinct field of study, each Faculty/department requires its 4-year PhD and MPhil students to complete a number of courses. Some Faculties/departments may also require 3-year PhD students to complete courses. Students should have passed at least 50% of the Faculty/departmental courses by the end of the probationary period. All courses must be completed before thesis submission.
In consultation with their supervisors, students may seek approval to take courses offered to RPg students in other Faculties/departments or those offered by other local institutions, in addition to or to substitute the Faculty/department required courses. Upon enrolment, the assessment result, whether pass or fail, will be recorded on the transcript.
