The Joint Centre for Advanced Study

The Joint Centre for Advanced Study (JCAS) is a joint effort among the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in developing greater cooperation and deeper collaboration in higher education.  The joint offering of courses for research postgraduate students is one of the initiatives.

Application Procedures

Students who are interested in taking courses under JCAS scheme should seek advice from the departments of their home institution for courses on offer and register for the courses following the regular course enrolment procedures. Students should also submit the completed JCAS Student Record Form to the Graduate School or the coordinating office of their home institution.

HKU students who have to travel to other institutions to attend courses may apply for a travel subsidy. The Graduate School will inform students concerned of the application procedures individually.

Course Assessments

For HKU students, results of courses taken under the JCAS scheme, whether pass or fail, will be recorded on the HKU transcript.
